Chad
Chad is a vast country with quite a small population, only 10million people; it is very spread out and diverse with many different tribes and language groups. The south of Chad is quite strongly Christian, but the North, most of which lies is the Sahara desert, is almost totally Muslim. The needs of the church in Chad are similar to those of Nigeria. There is also a great need for outreach to Muslims. GAP placements in the past have been focused on outreach to Muslims through TEFL teaching as well as teaching computer skills. GAP placements have also worked with prostitutes and other vulnerable women. To work in Chad GAP applicants need French to an A-level standard or above.
About Chad
Serve
N’Djamena GAP
Based in the capital city of Chad, there are a variety of GAP placement opportunities from teaching English or computers to Muslims; outreach and teaching girls who work as prostitutes; working at Streetkids homes and teaching crafts with women from northern Chad. There are also opportunities to work with Chadian churches helping develop programmes for their youth groups.
Chad just needs people who are willing to go and serve wherever the need arises. There is an abundance of opportunities but a shortage of people willing to go.
